1970-1977 his voice was pure, sweet, innocent yet convincing and real. 1978 started the noticable change with all the laryngitis etc. I'm convinced it had to do with whatever he was smoking.

agreed...1978 was the start....it really didn't start to go downhill till the end of 82...by 83,It was noticeable..I have a hard time Listening to 84-85 stuff sometimes because his voice is so strained
